Liverpool are reportedly already making plans for the summer transfer window, and have identified Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita as an ideal acquisition.
The 32-year-old is considered to be an important member of Pep Guardiola's squad at the Nou Camp, but is unable to boast a regular starting place.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are interested in signing Keita and could bring him to Anfield at the end of the season for as little as £2 million.
Kenny Dalglish is said to be keen to reinforce his midfield ranks when the transfer window reopens after failing to conduct any significant business during January.
Liverpool are lacking in experienced cover in the centre of midfield, although will welcome Lucas Leiva back in time for next season.
The Brazilian suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage against Chelsea in November and is unavailable for selection for the rest of the campaign.
He is, however, progressing well and has recently returned to Liverpool in order to continue his rehabilitation, having spent six weeks recuperating in Brazil.
