Liverpool are reportedly interested in Blackpool winger Matt Phillips and his manager Ian Holloway has admitted he will eventually leave.

Phillips is in the form of his life for the Seasiders and talkSPORT are reporting that Kenny Dalglish is interested in bringing him to Anfield.

Holloway believes the 20-year-old has seen the success of Charlie Adam’s move to the Reds and believes he will soon be a target for a club of Liverpool’s stature.

“Matt Phillips has been absolutely exceptional, he understands what we are trying to do,” Holloway said on talkSPORT radio.

“He saw that Charlie went to one of the biggest clubs in the country and I am sure it will only be a matter of time until Matt joins him because he is 20 and he is English.”

Phillips has been a revelation this season for the Championship side this season and has scored six goals since returning from Sheffield United, where he was sent out on loan earlier in the season.

The speedy winger has been at Blackpool since his transfer from Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 2009.

He showed signs of promise in the Tangerines’ action packed, yet ultimately failed, Premier League campaign last year.

The hype surrounding him has been turned up a notch this week after he scored the winning goals in an impressive away win for Blackpool at promotion rivals Cardiff City.
