Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed midfielder Tom Cleverley will be available for the Liverpool clash.

The creative playmaker has been missing since October due to an ankle injury but Ferguson has confirmed he will have some involvement on the game at Old Trafford.

The newly capped England international was supposed to feature in a Red Devils reserve game against Chelsea on Monday that was called off due to snow, but Ferguson was happy with his progress and is confident of using him tomorrow.

“Tom's training well. We were disappointed the Chelsea Reserves game was called off on Monday. But he'll be involved tomorrow,” said Ferguson on the club’s official website.

Cleverley will not be the only returning player for what is expected to be a tense clash with their rivals from Merseyside.

Defender Chris Smalling is expected to be back after injury kept him out of the astonishing United comeback at Chelsea last Sunday.

The news is not so good for Phil Jones, who will not be available until the club’s Europa League tie with Ajax next week.

“I think Smalling could be available, but all the rest is as it was last Sunday,” added the Scot.

“Phil Jones got a knock against Manchester City, which he never quite recov ered from. He'll be fit for next week. He'll be fit for the Ajax game.”
