Rooney brace sinks Liverpool

Published Add your comment

Wayne Rooney's second-half double secured a 2-1 win for Manchester United against Liverpool, a result that moved them top of the Barclays Premier League.

Rooney struck twice in three minutes right after the restart, ensuring United survived a nervy finish after Luis Suarez had pulled a goal back.

However, with Suarez refusing to shake Patrice Evra's hand before kick-off and the United skipper apparently trying to confront his opponent at half-time, the off-field problems which have scarred this rivalry over the past few months have merely continued.
