Benfica striker Rodrigo has emerged as a potential replacement for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, it has been claimed.
The 20-year-old Spaniard has scored nine goals in 16 appearances this season; including a brace in Benfica's most recent victory on Saturday against Nacional.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have identified Rodrigo as a possible successor to Van Persie, but will have to pay £18 million to prise him away from the Estadio da Luz at the end of the season.
Van Persie's future at the Emirates Stadium is uncertain as he heads into the final year of his contract, although Arsenal are desperate for him to sign a new deal.
The 28-year-old has had a quite phenomenal 12 months and has registered 32 goals in 36 games for club and country this season alone.
Van Persie is reported to be attracting the interest of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona, which has led Arsenal to scour the market for alternative strikers.
