Liverpool were dealt a blow in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa after he stated his desire to stay in Germany.


The Japan international has been attracting interest through his performances for BVB and talkSPORT have claimed Kenny Dalglish was one of his biggest admirers.


It now appears Liverpool will be disappointed as Kagawa has ruled out a move anywhere, never mind Anfield.


“I'm having a terrific time and would be happy if this were to continue. I want to stay. I feel so good here, why should I go?” he told German broadcaster ZDF.


The 22-year-old is part of a highly regarded Dortmund side that contains other much sought after players as Mario Gotze and Mats Hummels.


Liverpool have had trouble finding the net frequently the past few months and Kagawa could be seen as a remedy for this, as he has scored seven goals so far this season but is also known for his delicate through balls around the opposition area.


The creative midfielder was part of the Dortmund side that stormed to the Bundesliga title last season and currently lead by two points over Bayern Munich.
