Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly given his players a dressing down after the humiliating defeat at AC Milan on Wednesday.
There are a number of reports in today’s press claiming the Gunners chief locked his players in their dressing room before the end of training on Thursday and subjected them to an out-of-character tirade.
The Guardian report claims that many of the players were taken aback by the severity of Wenger’s words and bad mood, some claiming they had never seem him so furious.
The Gunners were swept aside by the Serie A champions at the San Siro in midweek and an inept display saw them thrashed 4-0.
The star of the show was Rossoneri striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored one and set up two for Brazilian striker partner Robinho.
It was a miserable night for the travelling Arsenal fans as they were forced to witness the club’s heaviest defeat in Europe and another defensive injury when Laurent Koscielny was forced off with a knee injury.
The north Londoners will have to pick themselves up quickly as they travel to the Stadium of Light for a FA Cup fifth round clash with Sunderland.
They will take some heart from their victory in the league fixture between the two last weekend, but the effects of the Milan embarrassment may be difficult to shrug off.
