Ryo credits Henry & Van Persie for goal
Arsenal news: Ryo Miyaichi says his debut goal for Bolton Wanderers was down to Thierry Henry’s guidance
The Japanese winger scored his first goal in only his second appearance while on loan at Bolton on Saturday and referenced the Gunners stars for showing him how it was done.
Arsene Wenger will be pleased to see the 19-year-old is having such an impact at Owen Coyle’s side, as well as his praise for the time he spent training with the Emirates Stadium club.
“I like the style in which you attack from the left to get into the box, like Thierry Henry does,” Miyaichi told the official Bolton Wanderers website.
“When I was in Arsenal, I saw it many times as Henry scores the same way during training.
“Van Persie also did it plenty of times at opposite side, from the right flank with a left foot shot.
“They showed a very good example for me and that helped me score.”
It was an impressive start by the young winger who needed only four minutes to outpace Millwall’s Alan Dunne before cutting inside and curling the ball into the top corner.
It was Miyaichi’s first start for the Trotters and he is hoping that his performance will help him gain a more regular place in their starting XI – even as soon as their game with Chelsea this coming Saturday.
“It was a really important match for me and I think my performance could lift my position among the Bolton squad,” he added.
“Now I'm really looking forward to playing with Chelsea next week. If I have a chance to play, I want to do same as Saturday.”
Arsenal boss Wenger will also be hoping his young charge can do something similar to aid his parent club’s race for the fourth Champions League spot.
