FC Groningen striker David Texeira has played down suggestions he could leave the club in the summer, despite being linked with a move to Liverpool.
The 20-year-old has impressed during his first season in Holland, and has netted eight times in 18 Eredivisie appearances this term.
It was reported in January that Texeira had been attracting the interest of Liverpool as Kenny Dalglish scoured the market for potential goalscoring reinforcements.
However, it is unclear whether Liverpool formalised their interest in Teixeira, and he will remain at Euroborg until the summer at least.
And the Uruguayan is content with continuing his education in Holland before eventually moving on to a bigger club - just like compatriot Luis Suarez.
“I heard the rumours that [Liverpool] were after me, but people talk a lot,” Texeira told NUSport.
“It’s way too early to join such a big club. I need more experience first, and that’s why I joined Groningen.
“I want to develop here, and eventually join a bigger club, just like Luis [Suarez].”
Naturally, Texeira has often found himself compared to Suarez, having left Uruguay for Groningen - the same path trodden by the Liverpool striker at the beginning of his career.
But Texeira is intent on creating a name for himself, and insists comparisons to Suarez are wide of the mark.
"I am David Texeira, not Luis Suarez," he added. "Our style is different."
