Wolves caretaker boss Terry Connor has pleaded for club owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey to be given time to find the right successor to sacked manager Mick McCarthy.

Morgan and Moxey have so far drawn a blank in replacing McCarthy after failing with approaches to the likes of Alan Curbishley, Brian McDermott, Gus Poyet and Walter Smith.

Connor will be in charge of the side at Newcastle on Saturday, and said: "They have to make the right decision. They are the custodians of the club. It's up to them to take whatever time it needs to make sure the club moves forward."
