Manchester United are keeping tabs on Porto winger James Rodriguez, according to reports in Portugal.
The 20-year-old Colombian international has been earning rave reviews after a series of impressive performances, drawing comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The London Metro reports that Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson sent scouts to the Etihad Stadium to see Rodriguez in Europa League action against local rivals Manchester City last week, with a view to a potential bid this summer.
After joining Porto from Argentinian club Banfield in 2010, Rodriguez was rewarded with an improved contract after scoring a hat-trick in last season's Portuguese Cup final.
With nine goals in 15 league appearances this campaign, the South American starlet has continued his excellent form, which has now attracted the interest of the Red Devils.
Ferguson is keen to add a creative midfielder to his ranks at Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens in June, but will not be prepared to pay anywhere near the £38million minimum fee release clause currently written into Rodriguez's improved contract.
