Liverpool are plotting a triple transfer raid this summer after success in the Carling Cup, with Lille playmaker Eden Hazard on the club’s wanted list.
Javi Martinez and Seydou Keita are also thought to be on the Reds’ radar, with Damien Comolli hoping to add some ‘big-name players’ to the Anfield team-sheet when the transfer window re-opens.
“A lot players I know are very interested about joining the project because it’s a very interesting project,” said the director of football after the Wembley success.
“We already know that there are big players who want to join us next summer because they believe in the project. Everybody in Europe knows what Liverpool football club are trying to do.”
Belgian international Hazard is one of Europe’s hottest properties, with clubs from all the major leagues eager to prize the talented 21-year-old away from the Stade Lille-Metropole.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with the strongest interest from the Premier League in the past, but now the Merseyside giants are ready to come to the table, according to The Daily Mirror, with owner John W Henry willing to bankroll another summer of transfer activity from Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish.
“The supporters are used to a certain kind of excellence; to see that start to emerge again at Wembley is great. This is just a great first step in what we are trying to accomplish, in moving in the direction that we hope we would move,” said the American.
“It’s about silverware, right, so it will help us build on every level and it’s what our players and our fans expect. We are still learning but that is what we want now - to build on every level.”
Dalglish has enjoyed constant backing from FSG after they appointed him as manager at Anfield last January, with over £100 million spent on transfers since the Scot’s return.
