The Old Trafford youngster was injured in the loss to Ajax last week and it was feared he may have had a reoccurrence of the ankle injury that kept him out for four months.
However, the report claims scans on the ankle have allayed those fears and Cleverley should be available to Sir Alex Ferguson in the first leg of his side’s last-16 Europa League tie with Athletic.
The injury forced the 22-year-old to miss Sunday’s win over Norwich at Carrow Road and to pull out of the England squad for the friendly with Holland at Wembley tomorrow.
It is now understood that he is back in the gym and should re-join full first-team training later in the week, though it will be too late for him to be involved in United’s next fixture, away to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
It is another frustrating setback for Cleverley who has been experiencing a breakthrough season at Old Trafford, though there will be relief at the fact it is not more serious.
