Chelsea plot triple Porto raid

Steven Gerrard is expected to be named as England captain tomorrow after Stuart Pearce delayed announcing who will wear the armband against Holland.

Joe Hart, Scott Parker and Gareth Barry have all been touted as potential captains, with James Milner also putting himself forward as a candidate.

Pearce did confirm four of his squad had withdrawn with injury - with Wayne Rooney, Darren Bent, Kyle Walker and Tom Cleverley all absent.

Meanwhile, Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker has been named as England player of the Year, following his emergence as a key player for the Three Lions.

TRANSFER NEWS

Robin van Persie has hinted he is ready to sign a new contract at the Emirates, speaking of his love for the club and describing himself as a "true Gooner". (talkSPORT)

Andre Villas-Boas in considering raiding former club Porto for midfielder Joao Moutinho and defender Alvaro Pereira - as well as Hulk. (Sky Sports)
