Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the situation of Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios, with the Paraguayan's future at the Westfalenstadion seemingly in doubt.
The 27-year-old was one of Dortmund's stars last season as they romped to the Bundesliga title, but now finds himself behind Robert Lewandowski in Jurgen Klopp's pecking order.
Barrios has scored only once in 15 appearances this term, and has hinted that he would consider a move away from Dortmund in order to find regular first team football.
"Of course I do not want to sit on the bench for a second season," he told Bild.
"That is not what being a professional footballer is about. I'm unhappy, but I'm waiting for my chance as a professional. It is difficult on the other hand for me to accept this after such a successful season."
According to talkSPORT, Arsenal have been alerted to the potential availability of Barrios as Arsene Wenger begins to make plans for the summer transfer window.
The Arsenal boss is likely to add another forward to his ranks at the end of the season, in order to relieve the goalscoring burden on captain Robin van Persie.
The 28-year-old has been in quite remarkable form over the past 12 months or so, and has found the net on 23 occasions in the Premier League alone this season.
