AC Milan appear to be frontrunners to sign Manchester United target Riccardo Montolivo, after the Fiorentina midfielder confirmed Massimiliano Allegri is interested in bringing him to the San Siro.
Montolivo is out of contract ad the end of the season and is seemingly set to leave the Stadio Artemio Franchi for pastures new in the summer.
However, should the Premier League champions formalise their interest in the 27-year-old, they will be contested by AC Milan.
Milan were reported to have made a bid for Montolivo - which the Italian has since denied - but he has confirmed the Serie A leaders are interested in his signature.
"My name has been linked to many clubs," he was quoted as saying by Calciomercato.it.
"There are several possibilities between these [sides] and there is also AC Milan. But now is the time to be thinking about Fiorentina."
Montolivo has also been linked with Juventus and Roma, and is likely to have no shortage of suitors as his contract with Fiorentina nears expiration.
