Clough praises courage of Davies

Published Add your comment

Derby manager Nigel Clough was full of praise for the courageous Steven Davies after his striker sparked off a comeback which enabled the Rams to salvage a 2-2 draw against stumbling Birmingham at St Andrew's.

Derby were trailing by two goals and seemingly heading for their fourth successive defeat but Davies, who fractured his skull last October in the home game against Southampton, showed no fear when he headed in Derby's first goal in the 61st minute for the Rams' first goal in five games and seven hours of play.

Clough said: "It was great to see him back in action. We took our time with him and it was good to to see him score such a good goal. He has taken his time as he has had some injures over the last four years. But he does bounce back and he does get goals as he proved against Birmingham."
