Manchester United have handed Mats Daehli a 17th birthday present to remember after the youngster signed professional terms with the club.
The Red Devils beat off a number of Premier League rivals, as well as German giants Bayern Munich and Dutch powerhouse Ajax, to the player's signature.
Daehli is understandably delighted to join the Red Devils after impressing on a short trial at the club's Carrington training ground, and agent Jim Solbakken confirmed the deal has been agreed by all parties.
"He signed the contract on his birthday today," Solbakken told VG.
"He said it felt terrific and there are no doubts he deserved it."
The 17-year-old leaves Norwegian outfit Lyn to join the English champions, and will become part of Manchester United's famed academy setup.
Under Paul McGuinness, the Red Devils U18s claimed last season's FA Youth Cup, and has served as a feeder team to Sir Alex Ferguson's senior side at Old Trafford for a number of years.
The Manchester United first team is still a distant dream for Daehli at the present time, although he's on the ladder after agreeing a first deal with the club.
