Didier Drogba could be set to follow former Chelsea teammate Nicolas Anelka to Shanghai Shenhua - and the Chinese club have already reserved the No.11 shirt for him.
Anelka left west London for Shanghai in January and missed out on making his debut for his new club at the weekend due to a knee injury.
Drogba, meanwhile, is out of contract with Chelsea in the summer and, although the Blues are keen to keep him at Stamford Bridge, the Ivorian has yet to pen a new deal.
Shanghai appear to be ready to test the loyalty of the 34-year-old striker, and claim to have already started negotiations with Drogba - who is said to have requested his favoured shirt number.
“During negotiations, Drogba said that he liked the number 11 – so to show the club’s sincerity, we reserved it for him," club owner and chairman Zhu Jun said, according to The Mirror.
Drogba scored his 100th Premier League goal for Chelsea during the weekend victory against Stoke - becoming the first African player to reach the milestone.
The former Marseille forward has now scored 152 times in all competitions for the Blues, having joined the club for £24 million in the summer of 2004.
