United send Ferguson on Madrid teen scouting trip

Manchester United have set their sights on Real Madrid starlet Jese Rodriguez Ruiz, according to reports in the British press.

The Daily Mail claims scout Martin Ferguson, brother of manager Sir Alex Ferguson, has been sent to watch the Madrid B team, known as Castilla, on several occasions over the past few months, with an eye thought to be on 19-year-old Ruiz.

Already gaining comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo for his attacking style of play down the wings, the teenager’s contract expires in the summer of 2013, and it appears the Red Devils have sensed an opportunity to try and bring the player to England.

However, sources close to the player claim Ruiz would like to remain in the Spanish capital, and try and force his way into the first team fold under Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu.

After travelling with the first team on their pre-season tours last summer, senior chances have been limited to an appearance in the Spanish Cup against Ponferradina, and Manchester United will hope the young talent is becoming frustrated under ‘the special one’.

And, providing Ferguson’s brother gives the nod, Sir Alex could point to the current Manchester United side – bulging with young players – as a place where Ruiz could get several chances.
