Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy is being targeted by Manchester United, according to the Metro.
Sir Alex Ferguson was reportedly watching Lille's game with Lyon last weekend, as he monitored Eden Hazard.
However, it's understood Ferguson's attention was actually on Debuchy, who applies his trade at right-back.
The 26-year-old has impressed for the French champions of late helping his side to the Ligue 1 championship last season.
Debuchy featured for the French national team against Germany last month, and such was the impressiveness of his performances United have taken a look first hand.
Reports suggest that due to the inconsistent form of Brazilian Rafael, Ferguson is searching for a full-time replacement.
Both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have been deployed in the role, but are more adept to playing in the centre of defence.
United will need to be quick in their pursuit of the Frenchman, with Valencia and Bayern Munich both keeping an eye on him.
