Manchester United are scouting Rayo Vallecano midfielder Michu, who is also a reported target for Liverpool.
The 25-year-old Spanish midfielder has been in particularly impressive at the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas this season, and has scored 13 goals in La Liga.
According to the Daily Mail, Michu's exploits have attracted the attention of Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish, although, at this present time, Old Trafford would appear to be a more likely destination for the Spaniard than Anfield.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, it has been claimed, sent his brother Martin to compile a report on Michu during the weekend victory against Real Betis.
The interest of United is reported to be more serious than that of Liverpool, and the need for midfield reinforcements is surely a summer priority for the Premier League champions.
Although they are on course to retain their title, United have struggled for goals from midfield, and Ferguson is likely to bolster this department during the transfer window.
