Chelsea are reportedly planning a double summer swoop on Newcastle United, by making significant bids for both Tim Krul and Cheick Tiote.

Krul and Tiote have been two of the star performers for the Magpies this term as Alan Pardew's maintain a pursuit of a place in European competition for next season.

The respective displays of the Newcastle pair appear to have caught the attention of Chelsea and, it would seem, Roman Abramovich is now considering a formal approach in the transfer window.

According to The Independent, Chelsea are planning a bid on the region of £30 million in the hope of luring both Krul and Tiote to Stamford Bridge in a double deal.

Tiote joined Newcastle from FC Twente in 2010, and the holding midfielder has established himself as one of the finest players in his position in the Premier League.

Krul, meanwhile, was handed the No.1 position by Pardew at the start of the season, and the 23-year-old has responded with a particularly impressive campaign in the Newcastle goal.
