Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Udinese duo Mehdi Benatia and Mauricio Isla, although may face competition from Napoli in their pursuit of the highly-rated pair.

Centre-back Benatia and versatile midfielder Isla have been two of the star turns for Francesco Guidolin's side this season as they chase a place in next season's Champions League.

According to talkSPORT, Arsene Wenger and Kenny Dalglish are interested in the both players, but may struggle to bring them to the Emirates Stadium or Anfield respectively.

Napoli are prepared to contest Arsenal and Liverpool for Benatia and Isla, and Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo has confirmed his players are attracting interest.

"At the end of the season we will see what happens, but it is certainly true that several clubs have asked about these players," he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

Should Arsenal's interest in Benatia and Isla be genuine, then it will serve as further evidence that Wenger plans to invest heavily in his squad this summer.

The Gunners manager has already seemingly completed a deal for Cologne striker Lukas Podolski, while he has also been linked with big money moves for Mario Gotze and Yann M'Vila.
