Chelsea are planning to launch a bid for Lille winger Eden Hazard this summer, according to The Metro.

The 21-year-old has previously revealed his intention to leave the Ligue 1 champions this coming summer, leading to a host of clubs across Europe circling for his signature.

Hazard has a £34 million release clause inserted into his contract, with Tottenham Hotspur regarded as the leading contender for his signature from the Premier League.

However, Chelsea are ready to hijack their rivals' pursuit of the winger.

Qualification for the Champions League is likely to play a pivotal role in landing Hazard, with five points separating Chelsea from fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur at the current time.

The Belgian international played a vital role in landing the French domestic title last season, and has attracted interest from Chelsea's Premier league rivals; Arsenal and Manchester United.

With a new manager expected to be appointed in the summer, a substantial overhaul of the squad is expected at the end of the season at Stamford Bridge.
