January signing Nikica Jelavic set Everton on the way to an all-Merseyside FA Cup semi-final clash with Liverpool as Sunderland's dream wilted and died after a 2-0 loss at the Stadium of Light.

The former Rangers striker fired the visitors ahead 24 minutes into their sixth round replay, and substitute David Vaughan's own goal 11 minutes after the break doubled Everton's lead.

Black Cats frontman Stephane Sessegnon hit the woodwork on the hour, but the Toffees passed up a series of glorious opportunities to increase their lead with Jelavic in particular culpable.
