Arsenal starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was always confident the Emirates Stadium side could climb back up the table.
Arsene Wenger’s side have won their last seven Premier League matches, a run that has taken them from being ten points behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur in fifth to being three points ahead of them in third.
It has been quite a turnaround for the Gunners after a terrible start to the season and they have been trying to make up for it since, but Oxlade-Chamberlain says he was never worried and expected the team to bounce back at some point.
“It was always going to come as we have the quality in the squad to get results like this,” he told the official Arsenal website.
“It was about grinding out certain results and concentrating on playing our game - that is what we have been doing recently.
“We have been playing the way we want to play and even when we haven't been able to, like at Everton and Liverpool, we have now been able to grind out results.”
The 18-year-old believes that the winning streak Arsenal are currently going through is down to a change in mentality.
The north Londoners have been transformed from a timid side that looked vulnerable and sloppy into a side that are fully of energy and danger.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has become more prominent in the first team in the past couple of months and he believes renewed confidence is palpable in the squad, which is in turn improving results.
There was also a mention for the Gunners’ fans, who have also become more positive since the Manchester United game, where they were openly critical of Wenger for the first time in his tenure.
“Working together and believing in ourselves has been a massive part of it, and the fans have been a big help as well,” added the former Southampton trainee.
“When the team or a player has got a lot of confidence, things come naturally and you do things without realising.
“Maybe a player whose confidence has been knocked would not do those things. When you feel comfortable, everything runs smoothly and that's the way we have been playing recently.
“You can see around the training ground there is a big buzz, the weather is nice and everyone is happy. It has been like that since the start, but when results are going your way it helps a lot.”
