Rangers manager Ally McCoist has called for a change to the rules which prevent clubs from appealing yellow cards after Sone Aluko was booked for diving in Saturday's 2-1 Clydesdale Bank Premier League win at Motherwell.

The winger went to ground under pressure from goalkeeper Darren Randolph in the box, with television footage showing contact was made. But, rather than earn his side a penalty, Aluko was cautioned by referee Iain Brines, leaving him walking a disciplinary tightrope for the remainder of the match.

McCoist said: "It's something that has to be looked at, because the same thing could have happened in the second half and he's off and you've not even got the right of appeal."
