Real Madrid plan move for Liverpool star

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign either Liverpool's Glen Johnson or Tottenham defender Kyle Walker this summer, it has been claimed.

According to The Mirror, the former Chelsea boss wants to bolster his options at right-back, and has identified the Premier League duo as ideal acquisitions.

Former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa is the incumbent full-back at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Mourinho reportedly plans to trade in the Spaniard for more dynamic model at the end of the season.

Mourinho has set aside £16.5 million to fund his search for Arbeloa's successor, but such a fee is unlikely to be enough for either Liverpool or Spurs to consider selling their players.

Liverpool paid £17 million to bring Johnson to Anfield from Portsmouth almost three years ago, and the 27-year-old is still regarded as the first-choice for Kenny Dalglish on the right-side of defence.

Walker, meanwhile, has seen his reputation significantly enhanced this season, and is now viewed as one of Harry Redknapp's prized assets at White Hart Lane.

The 21-year-old has made 39 appearances for Spurs this season, while he was awarded an England debut in November of last year.
