Wayne Bridge could return though, having missed the game against parent club Manchester City last week.

Aaron Lennon could return from his hamstring injury, but Michael Dawson, Tom Huddlestone, Heurelho Gomes and David Bentley are all out of action.

Ledley King could return after missing last weekend's game against Swansea.

Bendtner to decide future in summer

Sunderland striker Nicklas Bendtner says he will not make a decision on his future until the end of season.

The Dane is on loan at the Stadium of Light from Arsenal but Martin O’Neill is keen to make the move permanent in the summer.

But Bendtner, who has two years remaining on his contract at Emirates Stadium, wants to wait until after Euro 2012 before deciding his next step.

“I haven’t given it much thought,” he told the Sunderland Echo.

“I really like the club and the manager has done really well since he came in here, but I haven’t given it any thought yet.

“I still have two years left with Arsenal, it isn’t just up to me.

“Ideally it would only be in my hands, but I’m just waiting to see in the summer. We’ve got the Euros, then, in the summer after the Euros, we will see where we are.”

Bendtner has scored four goals in his last five Premier League outings to move his tally this season to seven.
