Liverpool are lining up a summer swoop for Manchester City duo Emmanuel Adebayor and Adam Johnson, reports the Metro.

Manager Kenny Dalglish wants to overhaul his squad at the end of the season and has placed the Etihad pair high on his shopping list.

Adebayor has spent this season on loan at Tottenham but the striker's wage demands mean a permanent deal at White Hart Lane is unlikely.

England winger Johnson has struggled for opportunities under Roberto Mancini, and wants regular first-team football.

But Liverpool manager Dalglish, who has already spent over £100million on Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing since taking over at Anfield, will have to sell before buying.

Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez and Fabio Aurelio are set to be offloaded in an attempt to raise transfer funds.
