‪Andy Carroll believes Liverpool’s last-gasp victory against Blackburn shows the fighting spirit within Kenny Dalglish’s squad.‬

‪The much-maligned striker scored deep into stoppage time at Ewood Park to give the Reds just their second win in nine Premier League games and first for a month.‬

‪A brace from Maxi Rodriguez saw the Carling Cup winners race into an early two-goal lead before stand-in goalkeeper Alexander Doni’s dismissal meant the visitors had to play for over an hour with 10 men.‬

‪Blackburn striker Yakubu then missed a penalty before scoring twice to peg Liverpool back. But Dalglish’s side dug deep and Carroll’s powerful close-range header ensured a timely win.‬

‪After a difficult month for everyone at Anfield, the nature of their victory pleased the £35 million signing.‬

‪"It shows the fight that we've got here," he told ‬liverpoolfc.tv‪. "Coming off a few defeats and a draw, coming here and winning will lift all the lads to go to Wembley and try to get to the final from there.‬

‪"I think we're all confident. We've just been a little bit unlucky in a few games and I think the luck will come on our side, sooner rather than later hopefully. But I think it was a good performance from all the lads (at Blackburn) and we deserved the win.‬

‪"It was a funny old game. Back and forth with a sending off as well but in the end we got the win we came here for.”‬

‪The win pulls Liverpool clear of Fulham and Norwich and to within a point of local rivals Everton. ‬

‪"We all believed that we were going to get the winning goal at the end and as Kenny said we kept attacking all the way through and then it (the winner) came right at the end."‬
