Roma have reportedly approached Liverpool regarding the potential availability of Luis Suarez during the summer transfer window.
Suarez has endured a difficult season and has been widely condemned for a number of controversial incidents, yet it is surely unlikely that the Reds would consider selling their star striker.
Roma, though, are seemingly keen to bring Suarez to the Italian capital in time for next season, and have reportedly already made an initial move to broker a deal.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A club have contacted Liverpool proposing a £16 million deal for Suarez.
Juventus are also credited with interest in the 25-year-old Uruguay international, but would seemingly be wasting their time with an attempt to sign him.
Suarez may have angered Liverpool bosses with his conduct this term, but is still considered to be a key component in the quest for future success.
The former Ajax forward was one of the only transfer successes for former director of football Damien Comolli, having moved to Anfield from Amsterdam in January 2011.
