Yossi Benayoun has hailed Robin van Persie and Fernando Torres and labeled the pair as two of the best strikers in the world.
During his spell at Liverpool, Benayoun enjoyed supplying Torres at his very best, while the last 16 months has been something of a purple patch for Van Persie.
The Israeli midfielder has experience both in close quarters of late, and believes the Premier League duo represent the best the world has to offer.
"I have been lucky to play with some of the best. Steven Gerrard at Liverpool, for me, was one of the best," he said.
"Now at Arsenal Robin van Persie is above everyone and I think in the Premier League he is the best player this season.
"In his position, I played with a very good friend of mine in Fernando Torres and I put him at the same level as two of the best strikers in the world."
Van Persie scored his 34th goal of the season from the penalty spot as Arsenal went five points clear of fourth place Tottenham Hotspur with victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Dutchman has often proved himself indispensable to Arsenal this season, his goals spearheading their rise up the division following a difficult start to the campaign.
Benayoun, currently on loan from Chelsea, has taken little time to realise the important of the striker tot he club's prospects.
"Van Persie is a big player," he said. "He has scored a lot of penalties and you don't always know where to shoot. Sometimes you think 'maybe I need to change something'.
"He took a brave decision to chip it down the middle of the goal. A lot of quality players did it before like Thierry Henry but he (Van Persie) is one of the best players in the world at the moment."
