United consider £25m bid for Bilbao winger

Manchester United plan to sign a winger in the summer with Athletic Bilbao's Iker Muniain the new target, according to the Daily Star Sunday.

The 19-year-old recently became a full international with Spain, and has been compared in playing style to the world's greatest player – Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Already rated at around £25million, Muniain is tipped for a bright future in the game, and has been on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar since impressing against United in the Europa League.

Despite having Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young, already in his ranks, the Red Devils boss wants to further strengthen his options in wide areas by luring the Bilbao star to Old Trafford.

Manchester United are also believed to be monitoring two of Muniain's teammates - striker, Fernando Llorente, as well as full-back, and club captain, Andoni Iraola.

However, the reigning Premier League champions may find it difficult to negotiate deals for any of the aforementioned players, with Bilbao traditionally paying huge wages, and putting big buy-out clauses in their contracts.
