Nicolas Anelka hopes Shanghai Shenhua can complete the signing of Didier Drogba this summer, as the future of the Chelsea striker remains in doubt.
Drogba is out of contract in west London at the end of the season, and has yet to give a clear indication that he will extend his stay with the club beyond his current deal.
Shanghai have made no secret of their interest in the veteran Ivorian, and are likely to tempt him to leave Stamford Bridge with the offer of a substantial wage increase.
Anelka was persuaded to quit Chelsea for the riches of Shanghai during the January transfer window, and the French striker now hopes his former teammate will follow suit.
The former Arsenal forward also wants to see ex-Paris Saint-German colleague Selim Benachour join him on his Chinese adventure.
"I hope Selim Benachour and Didier Drogba will quickly join us," he told Le Journal du Dimanche.
"I hope they to come. It is up to the club to see if we have the right means."
Anelka has enjoyed an eventful spell with Shanghai since completing his move, and was last week named player-manager of the Chinese Super League club following the dismissal of Jean Tigana.
