Arsenal and Manchester United are both in the hunt for Colombian starlet Luis Muriel, reports talkSPORT.

According to reports in Russian newspaper Lifesports, the 21-year-old - who currently plies his trade on loan at Serie 'A' strugglers Lecce - has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs.

Muriel is actually owned by Udinese; the Italian outfit signed him from Colombian side Deportivo Cali, but with stiff competition for places at the Stadio Friuli, the Zebrette may be prepared to sell in the summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been credited with an interest in bringing the South American striker to the Emirates Stadium in June, as he looks to strengthen his forward line, in a bid to relieve the goalscoring pressure on Arsenal captain Robin van Persie.

However, Manchester United are ready to lodge a rival bid for a player who has scored seven goals this season, in a team that is fighting to stave off the threat of relegation into Italy's second tier.

Sir Alex Ferguson has strength in numbers in his Old Trafford attack, but with the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Federico Macheda facing uncertain futures, there could be room for a new arrival at the end of the season.

Both clubs will face competition from CSKA Moscow, who themselves are planning a bid for the Colombian U20 international.
