Chelsea are interested in signing Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira this summer, but will be contested in their pursuit by Barcelona, it has been claimed.

The 20-year-old is a graduate of the Benfica youth ranks, and made his debut for the Portuguese giants in October of last year, and has made a further 14 appearances as the campaign has progressed.

Oliveira has certainly impressed for the Águias, and looked particularly dangerous when he came off the bench against Chelsea in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Although Chelsea progressed to the last four of the competition with victory at Stamford Bridge, the performance of Oliveira, it would appear, did not go unnoticed by the Blues hierarchy.

According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Chelsea are contemplating a summer bid for Oliveira, but Barcelona could yet trump their Champions League opponents.

Pep Guardiola reportedly posted representatives to run the rule over the the Portugal international last weekend, and they were impressed by his performance.
