Arsenal will increase their efforts to land Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila before the end of the season in a bid to ward off interest from other major European clubs, according to France Football.
The Gunners have been reportedly chasing M’Vila for some time, and were keen to seal a deal for the 21-year-old in the summer, however the north London side are now looking to land their target sooner rather than later.
Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have all been linked with a move for M’Vila and now France Football report that Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with the Ligue 1 club in an attempt to get a deal done.
M’Vila has previously expressed his desire to complete a move away from Ligue 1 in the summer, with his club coach Frederic Antonetti admitting earlier this season that the French International ‘won’t be a Rennes player next season.’
Arsene Wenger reportedly wants to complete his transfer dealings sooner rather than later after being forced into the market on deadline day following the departure Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy last summer.
That led to widespread criticism of the Frenchman as his side suffered their worst ever start to a Premier League season, however since then Arsenal have turned their fortunes around and are on the verge of securing Champions League qualification once more.
A £10.9 million deal for Lukas Podolski looks to have already been wrapped up, while previous reports have suggested that a fee of around £20 million will be required to land M’Vila.
