The Togolese striker has impressed for Spurs since securing a summer loan switch from Manchester City, establishing himself as the club’s leading scorer with 13 Premier League strikes so far.
His form this campaign looked to have earned him a permanent switch to north London, with an £8 million move being discussed between Spurs and Manchester City ahead of the summer transfer window.
However as Spurs’ hopes of a top four finish have diminished, tensions at their Spurs Lodge training ground have reportedly risen, with the Mail reporting that Adebayor was at the centre of a bust up with Redknapp during a training session this week.
The paper reports that the former Arsenal striker felt he had been singled out by Redknapp for Spurs’ slump in form which has seen them win just one of their last nine Premier League games and crash out of the FA Cup.
The move had already looked in the balance, with Adebayor’s £170,000-per-week wage packet proving to be a stumbling block in the way of a permanent deal.
Adebayor has previously praised Redknapp for resurrecting his career, attributing his form this season to the former Portsmouth boss and while saying it was ‘special’ to work under a manger such as Redknapp in November.
Redknapp has also previously stated he would like to make Adebayor’s switch to White Hart Lane permanent, although if, as expected, he becomes the next England manager, he may not have the final say on the matter.
Tottenham face Blackburn this weekend, with three points separating them from Newcastle, who currently occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot.
