Manchester City are tracking Argentinian defender Lisandro Magallan, according to reports in the player’s home country.
Magallan broke through to Gimnasia La Plata’s first team last season but has enjoyed his breakthrough campaign this term, playing 18 times for his side as they go in search of promotion back to the top tier of Argentinian football.
TalkSPORT report, quoting sources in Argentina, that Manchester City have sent scout and former Crystal Palace player Attilio Lombardo to monitor the 18-year-old’s progress.
It is also claimed that Lombardo has been impressed with what he has seen and has recommended that Citizens manager Roberto Mancini attempt to sign him up.
City may view Magallan as a cheap long-term option for the future and could swoop in the summer before any other potential bidders register an interest.
Mancini has plenty of options at the back, although Stefan Savic may leave the club after a less-than-successful maiden season in the Premier League, meaning should Magallan sign for the club there is little chance of seeing him in the first team any time soon.
