PSG are preparing to pip Chelsea to the signing of Porto star Hulk by offering close to the Brazilian's £80m contract release clause.

The Porto sensation has been a long-term Chelsea target but Carlo Ancelotti looks set to beat his old club to the signing. The former Chelsea boss has been given the green light by PSG's Qatari owners to spend big this summer as they look to compete in next season's Champions League, according to talkSPORT.

Hulk has bagged 14 goals in 21 league matches this season, and could be the man to help PSG claim the Ligue 1 crown as they look set to lose out to Montpellier this term. The Brazilian playmaker, who has nine national team caps, has an £80m release clause in his Porto contract.

Ancelotti is reported to have made Hulk his top transfer priority this summer and is prepared to offer close to the release fee to get his man. A bid of around £60m would certainly test Porto's resolve and PSG are confident they can secure his signature.

Hulk joined the Portuguese champions from the Japanese side Tokyo Verdy in 2008. Since then he has gone on to establish himself as the team's top attacking talent and was part of Andre Villas-Boas' side that won the Europa League last season.
