Liverpool are watching Luuk de Jong with great interest, according to his agent, although they are only one of 16 clubs to be keen on the Twente striker.
De Jong is the second top scorer in the Eredivisie this season with 23 goals, while he has netted on 28 occasions in all competitions for club and country over the course of the campaign.
Unsurprisingly, this potent form has led to speculation that the 21-year-old Holland international will leave Enschede at the end of the season and, it would appear, he has no shortage of suitors.
"Liverpool are following Luuk closely. But so are 15 other clubs," his agent Luis Laros told Voetbal International.
"Three big clubs that have qualified for the Champions League preliminaries have told us that they are ready to open talks with Twente.
"We will keep our eyes and ears open in the next few weeks. Luuk is feeling very well at Twente, but if the club fails to qualify for Europe, staying put is a less attractive option."
The need for goalscoring reinforcements will surely be a summer priority for Kenny Dalglish, with a lack of goals notable among several Liverpool failings this season.
Luis Suarez is the club's leading scorer in the Premier League with 11 goals, but fellow forwards Andy Carroll and Dirk Kuyt only have six strikes between them.
De Jong would certainly provide Liverpool with another dangerous option, and his acquisition would remain in keeping with the club's recruitment policy.
