Manchester United close to Shinji Kagawa deal

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that Roy Hodgson's appointment as England national manager has "saved him a decision".

Redknapp was widely regarded as the favourite to succeed Fabio Capello before Hodgson emerged as a surprise candidate for the role on Monday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Rio Ferdinand to be included in England's Euro 2012 squad after the Manchester United defender's "fantastic season."

Elsewhere, Tottenham and England right-back Kyle Walker has signed a new contract that will keep him at White Hart Lane until at least 2017.
