England's players will face the axe if they fail to live up to the standards demanded of them by new head coach Roy Hodgson, according to West Brom number two Keith Downing.
Downing insists the squad will have "no grey areas" over what is expected from Hodgson who has signed a four year contract as Fabio Capello's successor.
He said: "With Roy and England, there will be no grey areas and people will know the role they are expected to do. They will be told in no uncertain terms and, if you don't do it, you won't play."
