Yaya Toure was the hero as Manchester City kept themselves firmly in the driving seat for the Barclays Premier League title with a priceless 2-0 victory over Newcastle in their penultimate game of the season.

Toure's cultured second-half brace proved the difference as Roberto Mancini's league leaders opened up a three-point advantage over Manchester United ahead of their home game against Swansea.

Newcastle had chances of their own, with Demba Ba and Hatem Ben Arfa both looking threatening, but the breakthrough would not come for Alan Pardew's men.
