Kenny Dalglish believes his team can finish their home campaign with a little bit of revenge if they manage to beat Chelsea at Anfield tonight.
"It would be fitting if we could finish off at home with a victory", Dalglish told reporters.
Two days after losing the FA Cup to the Blues, Liverpool are looking to secure a win in order to improve their record at home this season.
"Everyone knows the home results haven't been great this season despite some excellent performances along the way", the Liverpool manager said.
The Scot believes that the game is important for the fans and his team, although they are not in the race for the title or a top-four position.
"It would be a little bit of solace for the punters who have given us tremendous support throughout the season if we could get a win. We want them to go home with a certain amount of satisfaction and we can do that by getting the three points. It would be fantastic for everyone to get a positive result - for both the players and the supporters."
Chelsea's position in the league makes them the club that needs three points from tonight's game the most. In order to keep their top-four spot dream alive they have to beat the Reds in Anfield, a task which last weekend's triumph only made it harder.
Liverpool can only move to eighth position with a possible win, but they won't be doing any favours for their rivals from London.
Dalglish plans to shuffle his pack, trying to pick the right players for the task since Saturday's final left signs of fatigue on his team.
"We will need to assess how everyone is after the weekend. We will see what we've got as a few bumps and bruises may well have cleared by Tuesday morning."
"We're not going to give anything away but it will be the strongest team we've got from the players available", he added.
