Arsenal are preparing a bid for Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm to provide competition for current number one Wojciech Szczesny, according to The Daily Mail.

The Dutch shot-stopper has been a revelation since joining the south Wales club, and Gunners scouts have been monitoring his progress this season. Wenger is believed to want a more experienced keeper to challenge Szczesny for the number one jersey next season, and is prepared to trim his squad to land the Dutchman.

The Gunners boss plans to overhaul his team in the summer, which could lead to several of his goalkeepers leaving the club. Manuel Almunia has slipped down the pecking order in recent seasons, and his contract expires at the end of this campaign.

The Spanish keeper enjoyed a loan spell at West Ham earlier this season and could sign for the Hammers should they secure promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

The national paper also understands that Lukasz Fabianski will also be allowed to leave as the Pole searches for first-team football. That could lead Wenger to promote 19-year-old Damian Martinez from the youth team to fill the third goalkeeping spot in the squad.

Vorm, who has been included in the Dutch provisional squad for Euro 2012, only joined the Swans last season but has excelled in his first Premier League campaign.
