Luis Suarez is one of the best in the world and will improve his goalscoring record next season, according to Liverpool team-mate Jose Enrique.
The Uruguayan is the Anfield club’s top scorer this season with 17 goals and Enrique believes that number will be eclipsed next term.
Kenny Dalglish’s side have been on a run of bad form in the league since the turn of the year, with the players’ finishing being criticised, but the Spanish left-back feels that Suarez has proved he has more goals in him.
“You only have to see Luis's finishing in the Norwich games to see how good he can be,” he told the club’s official website.
“I said to him after the game 'Luis you deserve more goals this season'. He said 'Maybe that will change next season'.
“He's right at the top in the world. As Stevie says - he's amazing.”
There were no problems for the Merseysiders on Tuesday night when they battered Chelsea 4-1 – a significant, although frustrating, turnaround from the 2-1 loss they suffered to the Blues in the FA Cup final last Saturday.
Liverpool’s finishing has been below par this season, with many putting it down to bad luck as they have hit the post or crossbar on more occasions than any other side in the Premier League.
Enrique believes that fact they are able to get into positions to hit the woodwork is positive and claimed Dalglish’s squad were not too worried, though he bemoaned the difference there would be in their league position had they scored more of the chances.
“To hit the crossbar and the post so many times and miss a few penalties as well, it shows that we are creating lots of chances,” he added.
“It looks like an excuse because everyone says the same but it would be more worrying if we weren't shooting or creating the opportunity to shoot.
“Against many, many teams we might have scored earlier and the game changes and we win the points.”
