Villans fall foul of Canaries

Published Add your comment

Goals from Grant Holt and Simeon Jackson ensured a happy end to Norwich's successful return to Barclays Premier League life as Aston Villa's miserable season ended with a 2-0 defeat at Carrow Road.

Holt claimed the opener with his shoulder in the eighth minute before Jackson made the points safe by beating Shay Given from close range in the 21st minute.

Given was almost solely responsible for maintaining a respectable scoreline for Alex McLeish's side, producing a series of stunning saves, as Villa ended their dire campaign in 16th place.
